Welcome to SVFC! We are a local reformed Lancashire football club based in Shawforth, Rossendale and we are solely run by volunteers. Originally established in 1971, re-established in 2020, our aim is to create a community around football and to giving back to our local area. Anyone that wants to get involved we are always looking for more to get on board.
Originally, Shawforth Villa was a youth football team to the local children and managed by parents for 11 years. The team was active in a Lancashire league from 1971 until 1982 when the team had to fold due to a lack of management and training facilities. Fast forward to 2020, original right-wing striker Phil O’Dell with children; Tom and Siân collaborated to re-form the club, the process of redeveloping the team and club began July 2020.
Our club is run by volunteers, meet the team:

Phil – Chairperson | U18 Team Manager | Former Player
The club is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which has a large focus on social objectives to benefit the local community in some way. The CIC system also has processes to reinvest any profits made into bettering our services for the expansion. Although at present our services are still in development, we are aiming to develop a multi-sports club for many locals of Rossendale to benefit from.
At present we are utilising our social media to provide free fitness tools to keep fit from home. Move Monday is a free weekly workout devised by Siân our certified Personal Trainer. This is a under 20-minute, full body workout that does not require any equipment meaning you can complete in the comfort of your own home.
As we develop SVFC’s services will expand to promote sports and wellbeing across Rossendale but our overall aim and slogan as a club is to ‘Create a community around football’, as a club historically ran as a family friendly club and only by volunteers, the love of football and community spirit – These aspects will not be lost.
